The terms that apply when you use our website, book our services, or buy our products.
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the YourTechBuddy website and your purchase of our products and services. By booking a service, placing an order, or otherwise using our website, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our website or services.
These Terms should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
You must be at least the age of majority in British Columbia (19) and able to enter into a binding contract to purchase our products or services. By placing an order or booking, you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you are authorized to request work on any device you bring to us or give us access to.
YourTechBuddy offers technology support including, but not limited to, computer and laptop repair, Wi-Fi and network setup, smart-home setup, data transfer and backup, virus and malware removal, device optimization, and related help. Services are available as in-home visits within our service area, online remote sessions, and drop-off support.
We will always describe the work and expected outcome as clearly as we can. Because technology issues can be unpredictable, some problems may require additional time, parts, or follow-up, which we will discuss with you before proceeding.
When you book an appointment, we will confirm the date, time, and general scope of work. Please provide accurate contact and location details so we can reach you. Our regular hours are Monday to Saturday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
If you need to cancel or reschedule, we ask for reasonable advance notice (at least 24 hours where possible) so we can offer the slot to another customer. We may charge a call-out or diagnostic fee for visits where no one is available at the scheduled time or where the requested work cannot be safely or lawfully performed; any such fees will be disclosed to you in advance.
To help us serve you well, you agree to:
Please back up your data. While we take reasonable care to protect your files, technology repairs and upgrades carry an inherent risk of data loss. You are responsible for maintaining a current backup of your important data before any service. We strongly recommend doing so, and we are happy to help you set up a backup.
We aim to resolve every issue, but we cannot guarantee that every problem can be fixed, as some depend on hardware condition, third-party software, manufacturer restrictions, or the availability of parts. Where a problem cannot be resolved, we will explain the situation and discuss your options. Diagnostic or labour fees may still apply for the time spent, and will be disclosed to you beforehand.
We do not provide services for any unlawful purpose, including bypassing security on devices you do not own or are not authorized to modify.
When you place an order through our online store, you are making an offer to purchase the selected products at the listed price. An order is accepted once we confirm it. Because online purchases are made without inspecting the goods in person, they are treated as "distance sales contracts" under British Columbia's Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act (BPCPA), and we will provide the information and confirmations required for such contracts.
We make reasonable efforts to display products, descriptions, and prices accurately, but errors can occur. If we discover an error in a price or description affecting your order, we will contact you and may correct the error or cancel the order and provide a full refund. Products are subject to availability.
Prices are shown in Canadian dollars (CAD) and are exclusive of applicable taxes unless stated otherwise. Applicable taxes, including GST and PST as required in British Columbia, are added at checkout or to your service invoice.
Payment is due as set out at the time of booking or checkout. For some services we may request a deposit or payment of a diagnostic fee in advance; any such amount will be disclosed to you first. We accept the payment methods shown at checkout, processed securely through our third-party payment providers.
For product orders, we will provide an estimated delivery or pickup arrangement. Delivery timelines are estimates and may be affected by factors outside our control. Risk of loss for products passes to you on delivery. If your order has not arrived by the expected date, please contact us and we will help resolve the issue.
If you are not satisfied with a product, you may return most unused items in their original, resalable condition and packaging within 30 days of receipt for a refund or exchange, unless the item is marked non-returnable (for example, certain opened software, consumables, or clearance items). To start a return, contact us with your order details. You are responsible for the cost and safe return of the goods unless the item is defective or the return results from our error.
In addition to our store policy, you have cancellation and refund rights for distance sales contracts under the BPCPA. Where a valid cancellation right applies, we will refund the amounts owing within the timeline required by law (generally within 15 days after a valid cancellation notice).
You may cancel or reschedule a booked service with reasonable advance notice as described in Booking & Appointments. If you cancel after work has begun, you may be charged for work already performed and any parts already supplied. Deposits may be refundable in whole or in part depending on the stage of the work; we will explain this when a deposit is taken.
If a product is defective or not as described, please contact us. You may be entitled to a repair, replacement, or refund, including under any applicable manufacturer warranty and under British Columbia consumer protection law.
We stand behind our work. If a problem we were hired to fix recurs due to our workmanship within a reasonable period after the service, contact us and we will make it right in line with our service guarantee.
Products may come with a manufacturer's warranty; the terms of that warranty are set by the manufacturer. Refurbished items may carry a limited warranty, which we will describe at the time of sale.
Your statutory rights. Nothing in these Terms removes or limits any warranty, guarantee, or right that applies to you and cannot be excluded under British Columbia law, including the Business Practices and Consumer Protection Act and the Sale of Goods Act. Where those laws apply, they take precedence over any conflicting term here.
Except for the warranties and statutory rights described above, our products and services are otherwise provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis to the fullest extent permitted by law.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, YourTechBuddy is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential losses, or for loss of data, profits, or business, arising from your use of our website, products, or services. Our total liability for any claim relating to a product or service is limited to the amount you paid us for that product or service.
These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot be excluded or limited under British Columbia law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any non-excludable consumer rights. Because some limitations are not permitted in certain situations, parts of this section may not apply to you.

You agree to use our website and services lawfully and not to:
We may refuse service or restrict access where we reasonably believe these Terms have been breached.
We may sell or set up products and services made by third parties, and our website may link to third-party sites. Those products, services, and sites are governed by their own terms and warranties. We are not responsible for third-party products, services, or content beyond our own obligations to you under these Terms and applicable law.
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to indemnify and hold YourTechBuddy harmless from claims, losses, and reasonable expenses arising from your breach of these Terms or your misuse of our website, products, or services. This does not limit any rights you have under applicable consumer protection law.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of British Columbia and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute relating to these Terms, our products, or our services will be handled by the courts of British Columbia, and you and YourTechBuddy submit to the jurisdiction of those courts. Nothing in these Terms limits any right you may have to bring a complaint to a regulator or to use a remedy available to you under British Columbia consumer protection law.
We would always prefer to resolve any concern directly and fairly — please contact us first and we will do our best to make things right.
We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page shows when the latest version took effect. Changes apply to orders and bookings made after the update. Your continued use of our website and services after a change means you accept the revised Terms.
